All seven games during Round 7 of Intrust Super Cup were entertaining and showcased plenty of fantastic individual flair and superb team efforts.
Townsville Blackhawks rake Josh Chudleigh put in a classy display against Mackay Cutters to earn himself the title of Hastings Deering Player of the Match and young Tweed Seagulls fullback Jayden Campbell was super impressive, earning himself the title of captain of this week’s Team of the Week.
Each round, Queensland Rugby League recognises the 17 best performers and name the Intrust Super Cup Team of the Week. These team selections are based not only on statistical data, but also take on board live and broadcast viewings of the games, with the standout performer of the week named captain.
Round 7 Team of the Week
1. Jayden Campbell – Tweed Seagulls (C)
‘Wow’ is the only way to describe the young Seagulls fullback’s contribution in Round 7. Campbell scored a hat-trick of tries, clocked a huge 298 run metres, including 53 post-contact, had one line break and 17 tackle breaks. Seagulls coach Ben Woolf said Campbell’s footwork and speed had troubled every defence this season.
2. Tony Tumusa – Norths Devils
The Devils winger was simply impressive. Tumusa scored one try, had one try assist, clocked 147 run metres including 43 post-contact, and had one line break, one line break assist and five tackle breaks. Souths Logan Magpies winger Ethan Quai-Ward was also good with one try, 226 run metres including 63 post-contact and five tackle breaks.

3. Viliami Vailea – Redcliffe Dolphins
The Dolphins centre scored one try, clocked 91 run metres including 37 post-contact, had one line break, three tackle breaks and 19 tackles to earn his spot in the Round 7 Team of the Week. Wynnum Manly Seagulls weapon Delouise Hoeter was also impressive with 131 run metres including 44 post-contact, one line break, one line break assist, one try assist, four tackle breaks and 100 per cent tackle efficiency, making 14 tackles.
4. Isaiah Tass – Souths Logan Magpies
The Magpies centre scored 20 of the Magpies’ 48 points in Round 7. Tass scored one try and was excellent with his boot, kicking eight from eight conversions. The young gun also clocked 127 run metres including 51 post-contact and had two tackle breaks.
5. Kalifa Faifai-Loa – Townsville Blackhawks
The flashy Blackhawks winger was his flashy best in Round 7. Faifai-Loa scored two tries, clocked 157 run metres including 34 post-contact and had two line breaks and four tackle breaks.
6. Jack Campagnolo – Wynnum Manly Seagulls
The No.6 is always good for the top-of-the-table side. Campagnolo scored 10 of the Seagulls’ 38 points in Round 7, kicking five from seven conversions. He also had one try assist, one line break assist and had 100 per cent tackle efficiency, making 20 tackles.
7. Todd Murphy – Sunshine Coast Falcons
The Falcons co-captain has been unlucky not to have more runs in Team of the Week, consistently performing well for his Sunshine Coast side. Murphy was pinpoint with his boot in Round 7, kicking four from four conversions; he also had one try assist. Wynnum Manly captain Sam Scarlett was also solid with one line break assist and two try assists.
8. Luke Page – Burleigh Bears
The Bears captain was an impact player for his side in Round 7. Page, during his 46 minutes on the field, scored one try, clocked 131 run metres including 45 post-contact, had one line break, one tackle break and made 17 tackles.
9. Josh Chudleigh – Townsville Blackhawks
The Blackhawks hooker was on the field for 47 minutes and he made sure he made every minute count to be named the Hastings Deering player of the match. Chudleigh clocked 93 run metres, had one line break assist, one tackle break and made 21 tackles.
10. Jordan Grant – Brisbane Tigers
The Tigers prop, during his 64 minutes on the field, clocked a huge 207 run metres including 76 post-contact, had two tackle breaks and had a 96.6 per cent tackle efficiency, making 28 tackles.
11. Josh Stuckey – Northern Pride
The Pride second rower, during his 55 minutes on the field, clocked 200 run metres, including 79 post-contact, had one try assist, six tackle breaks and one line break assist. Stuckey also made 27 tackles. Bears talent Blake Leary was also solid with one try, 95 run metres, one line break, four tackle breaks and 27 tackles.
12. Zeb Taia – Wynnum Manly Seagulls
The Seagulls talent scored a double during his side’s Round 7 win over the Falcons. Taia also clocked 131 run metres, had two line breaks, five tackle breaks and made 26 tackles.
13. Kobe Hetherington – Souths Logan Magpies
The Magpies young gun made his presence known in Round 7. Hetherington, who is no stranger to Team of the Week in 2021, scored two tries, made the most tackles for his side with 29 and had the most line breaks with two. He also clocked 130 run metres including 52 post-contact, had one line break assist and seven tackle breaks.
14. Hayden Schwass – Burleigh Bears
The talented Bears second rower scored two tries, clocked 85 run metres, had two line breaks and three tackle breaks and made 28 tackles during his 66 minutes on the field.
15. Jayden Berrell – Wynnum Manly Seagulls
The dangerous Seagulls hooker was solid in Round 7. Berrell scored two tries, had one line break and made 28 tackles. He was impressive in attack and defence during his 51 minutes on the field.
16. Jack Quinn – Mackay Cutters
Quinn was impressive for the Cutters during their narrow loss to the Blackhawks in Round 7. Quinn kicked two from three conversions and kicked one penalty goal. He also clocked 133 run metres including 47 post-contact, had three tackle breaks and had a tackle efficiency of 97.5 per cent, making the most tackles for his side with 39.
17. Selwyn Cobbo – Wynnum Manly Seagulls
The Seagulls fullback has been on fire during season 2021. Cobbo scored one try, clocked the most run metres for his side with 200, had one line break and 11 tackle breaks. Definitely one to watch.
