The Burleigh Bears enjoyed a successful 2021 season across the club and recently celebrated their achievements at their club awards events.
Sami Sauiluma (Intrust Super Cup) and Tazmin Gray (BHP Premiership) were the big winners on the night, with both taking home player of the year honours for 2021.
Gray was outstanding in the premiership-winning Bears team and also went on the play for the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons, winning the Nellie Doherty Medal as player of the match. The second rower’s form through the season also saw her secure contract with the Gold Coast Titans in the NRLW.

Centre Sauiluma had a standout season for the Bears in his 15 appearances for the club this year, also taking out the players’ player award.
Tiana Raftstrand-Smith and Shallin Fuller took out the rookie of the year awards after both had breakout seasons.
Raftstrand- Smith started the year in the Harvey Norman Under 19 Girls team at the club and finished the season with a BHP Premiership title. The young gun also made her State of Origin debut with the Harvey Norman Queensland Maroons and signed an NRLW contract with the Gold Coast Titans.
Impressive rookie Raftstrand-Smith
Livewire back Fuller started the year in A Grade, not making his debut until Round 7 in the Intrust Super Cup where he lit up the competition with his eyes-up play. Fans and the Gold Coast Titans liked what they saw of him on the field, with Fuller also signing on with the NRL club.
Lachie Clifton was a popular winner of the club person of the year.
